Club or district website tracking made easy
You invest time and effort into creating and updating your club or district website. How is it working for you? You can find out using Google Analytics! By using the data collected by this traffic tracking tool, you can determine how and when visitors are finding your site, how long they are staying and what content is most popular and sought after.
This how-to guide, compiled by the Kiwanis International Web team, will help you set up your free Google Analytics account, install the application code on your club or district website and use the data collected to make the most of your web traffic.
Reshape and improve the member site
Support and feedback for the KiwanisOne.org website just got a little easier to find, request and submit.
Click the “Submit Question or Idea” link in the top left corner of www.KiwanisOne.org to reveal a captcha code entry box (our spam-killer). Input the letters and numbers exactly as shown. The user support form that appears after the code entry is short–only 7 fields asking for basic contact information and provides a large text box for your request or feedback.
The Kiwanis International Web team invites members to ask questions, request help using the member’s site resources, provide feedback and make suggestions. Questions and thoughts regarding online reporting and the club management system are also welcome and encouraged.

Don't get lost: Make sure your club is findable in the club locator
The club locator on the Kiwanis.org website is one of its most used functions. Prospective members and current members who are relocating use the search function to find a club in their area. But if your club doesn’t have a valid postal address, site visitors won’t be able to find you. Don’t get left off the map! Club secretaries, make sure your club’s address is valid and up to date via the Secretary dashboard at wwwKiwanisOne.org/login.
Everyone benefits from convention workshops
Lots of valuable resources and ideas were shared at the workshops during the recent Kiwanis International Convention in Las Vegas. Dozer Day an unusual, intriguing event
June 23, 2010 in the Press Republican
http://pressrepublican.com/0200_opinion/x336267002/EDITORIAL-Dozer-Day-an-unusual-intriguing-event
Call it the ultimate sandbox.
It was the fourth annual Dozer Day
at Airborne Speedway June 12. For those unfamiliar with the event,
local contractors bring just about every piece of modern earth-moving
equipment used in the North Country to the local speedway to push and
dig dirt for the day. And it's just for kids. What an experience.
Coordinated
by the Plattsburgh Breakfast Kiwanis Club and co-sponsored by Nortrax
Equipment and Graymont Materials, the event annually attracts 3,000 or
more people. This most recent one was no exception, despite overcast
skies.
With professional operators at the controls, kids were
able to drive bulldozers and push dirt, dig holes with backhoes, sit in
cement trucks, tiny tractors and dump trucks, along with a haul truck
and rock drill. They were also able take the 110-foot-high ride on the
boom of a line truck. There were lines of kids to try out the
activities all day.
Also at the site were firetrucks, U.S. Army
vehicles and a Homeland Security helicopter for kids to clamor onto.
Takeoffs and landings of the chopper were well attended by wide-eyed
youngsters.
Airborne Speedway officials provided a concession
stand, along with the venue to hold the event, and let kids and adults
drive the go-karts. For two years, Dozer Day was held at the Clinton
County Fairgrounds, but the move to Airborne in South Plattsburgh last
year pushed attendance to the 3,000 mark, obviously a good move.
And
drivers from Huntley Trucking were responsible for hauling all the dirt
that was pushed around that day and the construction equipment to and
from the speedway, a yeoman task.
Dozer Day was not only a fun,
family-oriented activity, all the proceeds of the event will benefit
local children's charities, such as the CVPH Mental Health Unit for
Children and Adults, Clinton County Child Advocacy and the Ted K Center
in Plattsburgh. Following last year's event, CVPH charities were the
beneficiaries of the $14,000 raised at the event. This year, $16,000
will be doled out to the selected agencies.
Events like Dozer
Day, where volunteers, businesspeople and local organizations come
together to put on a real family day to benefit special agencies
serving local people, is what the North Country is all about. We've
seen it time and time again. And this event broadens the menu of
activities North Country residents and visitors can enjoy, very likely
for the first time.
We look forward to next year's edition
with much anticipation. And for those who didn't make it this year,
plan on it for 2011. For those who did, your kids won't let you forget
when it is.

How to access Kiwanis videos
There are now four different ways to view a Kiwanis video.
1. View our
more popular videos online at www.youtube.com/kiwanisinternational.
2. Embed one of our videos directly into a club or district website. Easy
instructions at www.KiwanisOne.org/videos.
3. Download a video to your own computer from our Google Docs video library
at www.KiwanisOne.org/getvideos.
4. Request a hard copy CD or DVD via videos@kiwanis.org.
All requests
for videos or questions about the ways to access a video should use the
following e-mail address: videos@kiwanis.org.
A few notes about this new process
Kiwanis
International videos with a high demand for download will be available in a
Google Docs video library at http://www.KiwanisOne.org/getvideos.
The videos in this library will be available for download as .mov format only.
This format helps reduce the time and cost associated with producing multiple
versions. You can download a free .mov video player here (compatible with either
Mac or PC): http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/.
If
a Kiwanis International video is neither on YouTube nor in Google Docs download,
then a third option is to request a CD (data file) or DVD (plays in a DVD
player). This may incur a cost to cover production and materials, plus shipping
and handling. Please allow a minimum of 2 weeks from initial contact to receipt
of video. Inquire at videos@kiwanis.org.
